Fabio Bidini is one of the top-flight younger-generation pianists.

 

At the age of five he was given his first piano lessons and already half year later he played his first public concert. In the following years he won eleven of the most important Italian piano competitions, including always the Audience Prize as well as all the special prizes.

 

Pianists who made a significant contribution to his artistic development are Orazio Frugoni (pupil of Alfredo Casella and Dinu Lipatti) and Maria Tipo (pupil of Scaramuzza, Casella, Agosti).

 

After winning top prizes in the most famous international piano competitions like Busoni, London, Pretoria and Köln, his sensational success at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition opened him the door to a constantly growing international career.

Fabio Bidini now is recognized as the foremost young pianist to have emerged from Italy since the days of Michelangeli.

 

His outstanding piano playing that combines technical wizardry with poetic lyricism and his fascinating culture of the attack of the keyboard brought him to have a glowing London debut in the Barbican Center with the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas in 1992. Shortly after, he had his highly acclaimed North American debut with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra under Joel Levi.

 

Since then Fabio Bidini is a frequent guest of the best orchestras worldwide (San Francisco Sympony, Dallas Symphony, Budapest Festival Orchestra, The Philharmonia Orchestra of London, BBC Orchestra Wales) playing in the world´s most famous halls (Carnegie Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Davies Hall, Rudolfinum, Auditorio Nacionál-Madrid, among others).

 

He collaborated successfully with leading conductors of our time like: Ivan Fischer, Zoltan Kocsis, Eri Klas, GianAndrea Noseda, Barry Wordsworth,  Tadaaki Otaka, Jesus Lopez Cobos, Jorge Mester, JoAnn Falletta, Jerzy Maksymiuk, among others and was repeatedly invited to perform at prestigious festivals (Festival Radio France Montpellier Languedoc-Roussillon, La Roque d’Anthéron International Piano Festival, Stern Grove Festival, Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli International Piano Festival / Brescia and Bergamo, Festival dei due Mondi).

 

His repertory is tremendously vast, it contains 76 piano concerti and the piano works from the baroque to the modern era.

 

In June 2000 he debuted in the Stern Grove Festival with San Francisco Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto N° 2 op. 18 and receiving a standing ovation by an audience of 12.000 people.

 

Fabio Bidini is also greatly in demand as a chamber music partner. He enjoyed artistic collaboration with the American String Quartet, the Janacek Quartett, the Brodsky Quartett, Eva Urbanova, Zoltan Kocsis, Dmitri Ashkenazy, Paula Robinson, Corey Cerovsek, Wendy Warner and Sabrina-Vivian Höpcker. With the latter he is forming a stable duo. With the publication of their fantastic debut CD of sonatas of S.Prokofieff and R.Strauss in hand they layed the foundations for an extensive collaboration with True Sounds.

 

Fabio Bidini´s discography comprises twelve CDs of leading recording companies like BMG, Classichord, Musikstrasse, EPR, True Sounds, among others.

 

From October 2005 on Fabio Bidini has been offered a chair in the piano departement of the “Universität der Künste – Berlin”.

 

He is an official Steinway Artist.
